- Q: What should I do if I can't find my favorite Old Home product in my store where I usually shop?
- A: Please print and fill out a copy of our product request form (PDF Download), then take it to your local grocer to request that they start carrying your favorite Old Home product(s).
- Q: Where is the expiration date printed?
- A: The “enjoy by” date is printed on the outer rim of the lid or near the top of the container.
- Q: How long is the product good after the expiration date?
- A: If the container has not been opened previously and properly refrigerated, it should stay fresh for about a week beyond the “enjoy by” date printed on the container.
- Q: How long will it stay fresh after opening?
- A: We recommend consuming it within 2 weeks after opening, as long as it is prior to the “enjoy by” date. This is a general guideline, so it is always best to check the appearance and smell, to ensure the product's freshness.
- Q: Can it be frozen?
- A: Freezing is not recommended because it will adversely affect the texture. It causes the product to separate and become grainy after it has thawed. Although, prepared dishes made with our sour cream products can be frozen and thawed.

- A: There are no artificial hormones in any Old Home product. No significant difference has been shown in milk from cows treated with the artificial growth hormone rbST and nonrbST treated cows.
- Q: Why is Carbon Dioxide used?
- A: Carbon Dioxide is a natural component of milk, but most of it is lost during the cheese making process. Since it serves as a natural preservative by inhibiting spoilage organisms, it is added to improve the product quality. It does not change the flavor, texture or appearance of the cottage cheese.

- A: Although most of the lactose has been converted to lactic acid by the cultures, there is still a small amount of lactose present. Depending on your individual tolerance for lactose you may be able to successfully digest this small amount. If you are unsure, please consult your doctor.
- Q: Why is there sometimes liquid on top of the yogurt?
- A: The liquid is called “whey”, and it is a natural component of milk. It occurs when the yogurt is stirred, tipped, shaken or subjected to a change in temperature. Since it has nutritional benefits, we recommend stirring it back in.
- Q: Does it have live & active cultures?
- A: Yes, all of our yogurt products have live and active cultures, including Streptococcus Thermophilus & Lactobacillus Bulgaricus. These cultures remain active in our yogurt, since it is not heat treated after the fermentation process.

- A: No, we do not use any artificial sweeteners or high fructose corn syrup.

- Q: Why do I need to refrigerate it?
- A: We do not use stabilizers or preservatives, like many other brands, so we recommend storing it in the refrigerator to keep the natural oil from separating. However, it is safe to store it without refrigeration, but you will need to stir it.
- Q: Do you use raw or roasted peanuts?
- A: The peanuts we use are dry roasted at just the right temperature, to bring out the best possible flavor.
- Q: Is it gluten free?
- A: Yes, all of our peanut butter products are gluten free.

- A: Yes, our peanut butter products are produced under strict kosher supervision.
- Q: Why is there a thin layer of oil on the surface?
- A: Since peanuts are naturally high in oil, some of the oil can separate out over time if the product reaches a temperature above 40 degrees. We do not add stabilizers or hydrogenated oils like many other brands to prevent oil separation.
- Q: Where are the peanut grown?
- A: All of the peanuts we use are grown in the United States by a few carefully selected growers.
- Q: Why is the texture a little thicker or thinner than before?
- A: The texture is dependent on the natural oil content of the peanuts. Each lot of peanuts is carefully selected, but there will be slight differences, due to changes in seasonal growing conditions.
